Judge Bars Prospective Juror Who Read the Pentagon Papers

Judge Byrne, in 9th day of jury selection, questions 40th prospective juror, C Travers, and finds him 1st one to admit he read any material from Pentagon papers; disqualifies him after Travers says he would probably vote to acquit Ellsberg and Russo, even if Govt proved case against them beyond reasonable doubt; Travers says he finds it difficult to accept Govt's charge that defendants committed crime in releasing papers; defense has expressed bemusement over professed ignorance of most of prospective jurors about papers; theorizes that prospective jurors lie to get on jury; Ellsberg and Russo recently filmed man-in-street ints, in which about 12 people were stopped at random in residential Los Angeles and were asked what they thought about papers; found nobody who did not know enough about papers to discuss them; reptd majority of them felt that papers should have been released; Pentagon Papers Peace Project, antiwar orgn formed to publicize defendants views, says it will distribute film based on ints; on July 19, orgn distributes near courthouse small newspaper entitled Pentagon Paper until defense atty calls halt because prospective juror might read it
